WinBSD is right around the corner.

I should also add BASH has been available on Windows for a long time as part of cygwin.

If I wanted bash I wouldn't be typing this on Windows 10 right now!!!! Guess I'll have to start using my Mac more....

The default command shell in OS X, since 2003, has been Bash.

This is great news. I seriously doubt bash will ever replace PowerShell as the enterprise management at the command line for Windows, but having bash available as a development tool is a good thing.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Cygwin has been a thing for more than 20 years.

The problem at the heart of bash on Windows is that Windows is not Unix or Unix like. Powershell is much better relationship to the actual OS and its underpinnings.

I'm curious how this Linux/Windows mix up will work in practice, since they do things quite differently. Even the security models aren't exactly compatible. It could end up being the mother of kludges.

Few of my buddies tried it out with the Insider Preview or whatever its called.
Im not familar with bash but they are and said it was pretty cool.
At least it will stop some people from having to use a VM or cygwin
