Optionstbgree00 Member Posts: 553 ■■■■□□□□□□I can't say for sure but I would guess it doesn't. The test is an unproctored online exam you take at your home so I wouldn't expect any simulations. It doesn't look like it has a traditional blueprint which used to tell you exactly what to expect.I finally started that blog - www.thomgreene.com

I would still recommend doing plenty of hands-on work in preparation for a VCP level exam though, as you will often find it easier to answer an exam item correctly if it's something you've actually done.
Follow the link to the exam web page posted above to help prepare yourself.

Optionssacredboy Member Posts: 303 ■■■□□□□□□□Guys, I got one question in regards to this exam. As a CCNP certification holder I am inclined to go this way vSphere 6 Foundation -> VCP6-NV -> VCP6-DCV. The question is, after I pass vSphere 6 Foundation exam (2v0-620) how much time do I have to prepar for VCP6-NV exam? Does vSphere 6 Foundation exam (the fact that it was passed) has an expiration period?Best, sacredboy!

Optionssacredboy Member Posts: 303 ■■■□□□□□□□Hello guys,
I have just finished reading vSphere 6 Foundations Exam OCG and I'm a bit confused in regards to the exam registration process. In the book it is written that prior to registering for vSphere 6 Foundations exam I must request authorization by clicking the Request Exam Authorization link at https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64180&ui=www_cert which leads to the webpage of VCP6-DCV exam registration page.
Could someone, please, clarify if it is a typo (and indeed I need this URL https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64179&ui=www_cert) or not. Also, I can't see any Request Exam Authorization links neither on VCP6-DCV Exam nor vSphere 6 Foundation Exam pages. How can I request exam authorization?
Thank you.Best, sacredboy! -
Optionsscott28tt Member Posts: 686 ■■■■■□□□□□The pre-authorisation process no longer exists.
The second link you posted is for the Foundations exam, you'll see the "Schedule an Exam" option on that page to get started with the process.
It's a non-proctored exam, so you take it online from anywhere, but that must be within 48 hours from when you schedule it.VCP2 / VCP3 / VCP4 / VCP5 / VCAP4-DCA / VCI / vExpert 2010-2012

Optionssacredboy Member Posts: 303 ■■■□□□□□□□Hi guys,
I found out that during VCA and Foundation exams which are non-proctored the web cam keeps an eye on the person who takes the exam for cheating prevention. I don't care about cheating but I am rather concerned about the Internet line bandwidth. Is home Internet line (1-2 mbit/s) is enough to take the exam without any lags?Best, sacredboy! -

Optionsscott28tt Member Posts: 686 ■■■■■□□□□□That's not correct. Some vendors require webcam for their "take at home" exams, but not VMware.VCP2 / VCP3 / VCP4 / VCP5 / VCAP4-DCA / VCI / vExpert 2010-2012

vSphere Foundations. VCA could be passed with a 3 hour course. vSphere foundation is way more technical.
But VCA gives you a cert. Foundations alone does not. -
Optionskj0 Member Posts: 767Foundations is kinda nothing without the VCP exams.
VCA is the lowest of the certs, Foundations comes in between VCA and VCP. However, to earn the VCP, you must take Foundations regardless of VCA.
The foundations exam tests that you under the foundation of VMware technology and then you can choose the VCP exam of the specific Silo, I.e. Datacenter or Desktop. -

Thanks kj0 for clarifying my thoughts.Best, sacredboy! -
Optionsscott28tt Member Posts: 686 ■■■■■□□□□□VCA is very much a basic certification level - it's better than having no certification at all, but that's about it. They're not very technical.
VCP is realistically the starting point on the VMware certification ladder - you'll see it mentioned on job ads. It is a technical certification, that leads on to VCAP, VCIX, VCDX.
vSphere Foundations is a "core" exam for all 4 of the VCPs, so it's a technical exam on foundational vSphere technologies.
Just look through the exam objectives, and you'll see the difference:

Optionssacredboy Member Posts: 303 ■■■□□□□□□□Sorry if my question will seems to be kind of silly, just want to be on the safe side. As far as I know the exam vSphere 6 Foundation should be taken within 48 hours after registration. The question is if I register for exam tomorrow on Friday 7PM after I come back home when 48 hours will expire Sunday 7PM (that would mean weekends are included) or Tuesday 7PM (that would mean business days only). Thanks in advance.Best, sacredboy!

How can I check this information on VMware website and how long does VMware take to update this information in their certification tracker system?Best, sacredboy! -
Optionsscott28tt Member Posts: 686 ■■■■■□□□□□I noticed in another thread that you’re doing the Stanly class, once you’ve finished it they will give you a special exam voucher code - you MUST use the code when booking your VCP exam, or VMware will not know you’ve taken the training.VCP2 / VCP3 / VCP4 / VCP5 / VCAP4-DCA / VCI / vExpert 2010-2012
