AWS or CCSP before?

needhelpneedhelp Member Posts: 12 ■■■□□□□□□□
I am specialised in security and certified CISSP and CISM. I wanted to have your thoughts on what is the best step for cloud computing. Whether to go with AWS and the CCSP or the opposite?

Thanks

I think AWS first. Better to know what you're securing first.
But I'm interested in hearing other people's opinions.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

The way I see it, is that AWS is a tool and vendor specific, CCSP is vendor neutral. You will learn more general and get more fundemental knowledge about cloud computing that you can then use in various cloud deployments. I have not taken AWS but I have used it for some testing. You really cant compare the two, CCSP covers more material about cloud, AWS only covers the "how to" use the AWS technologies and web services. Based on your knowledge and experience and exposure to cloud you can go either way. I'd personally do it the same way, go for the CCSP first.

If you have little cloud computing experience, go for AWS.
Are you using cloud computing at work? AWS? Azure? Google Cloud? VMware cloud? OpenStack?

The CCSP is board security management and not tied to any vendor cloud technology. You can pass CCSP without AWS.
Having that cloud experience do allow you to appreciate the security concepts better.

You can't pass the CCNA without knowing networking fundamentals. And altho there's some sims and labs on the exam, there's a ton of theory on it. I believe going w/ any vendor-specific cert is like that, including AWS.
