Relocate or Stay?

Ok im going to ask this to get a few different opinions....

The job I currently have is ending at the end of june... BUT they may/may not be moving me to Georgia. Right now I am waiting on a second interview for a possible position while applying to different places here in Virginia. I would love to go to GA but im ok with it if I don't get to go. The main reason why I want to go is because its a different place, better job, and a better opportunity there then in VA. I have also lived in VA my whole life and I am ready for a change.... I am

-Married but splitting up
-no kids
no major things tying me to VA (apt im living in just went month to month)
-Job is a Linux engineer position that is overnight
-company will pay for me to move there and give me a stipend
-i really do want to go

What has been your experience if any about relocation and moving for a job? if anyone here has done it please share your experiences....

And I have already weighed the pros and cons... and the pros outweigh the cons. Mainly to go from contract to full time employee is the biggest pro. And the low cost of living in GA.

I agree. If you have no attachments by all means go to Georgia if the job is a step up from what you are doing and you don't mind changing locations.

Sounds like a no-brainer. I never moved for a job, but I know some folks who have and they have loved the experience.

Let me throw you one curve ball. I have moved for a lot of jobs. Make sure you analyze the market you are moving to for IT and tech jobs. If this is the only gig in town you might want to rethink the move. Think what happens if this sucks and I want to find another job? You do not want to have to move over and over for work

Unless you view moving as an opportunity to try out different places. Especially if you're [soon to be] single, with no kids, and little attachements, there's little reason to be adverse to moving, IMHO.

I moved for my last 2 positions.

Whereabouts in Georgia? ATL is a much different market than Columbus, for example.

But - yeah, dude, move. For any of the reasons you gave, not to mention all of them together. I've relocated across the country (twice) and I'd do it again. Make sure the new company, if they offer to pay relo, offers it in writing...
CCIE Security - this one might take a while...

Don't know what your traffic is like where you're at now, but the traffic around ATL is the real deal.

I lived in Northern VA before coming to NC. I've never experienced traffic like that anywhere else. And the highways are beyond confusing there.

I moved three times for a right opportunity and I had wife and kids. Never regretted. Kept moving forward.
