I will be working with Linux and Windows as well so im going over the Linux commands that I wrote in my notebook and I said a brief prayer this morning!

Good luck! From my experience, usually internal hires are easier to happen, so your chances are good.

What I forgot to do on my recent interview, was bring two copies of your resume, maybe even three. Give your most updated one to the interviewer (because he or she may not have the most updated copy of your resume depending on when you sent it in) Most importantly, you can also take notes when you ask them questions, (why do they always have to be the one writing something down and making you nervous right?) and I don't see why not having your resume in front of you, know what I mean? It would surely help if you had it in front of you I think. It cuts down the time of how much you have to think about what tools you used, what projects you worked on, etc. Good luck! I'm sure you will do well.

Hang in there! Try to calm yourself. Do some deep breathing.

You know, I don't recommend it since everyone's tolerance level is different, but if you're a regular beer drinker I've found that knocking one back before an interview helps to loosen me up. icon_wink.gif

    **UPDATE**

I did not do as well as I thought... they asked a lot of Network questions and instead of BSing my way through them I told him "I can find out bc I did not know"
I froze on the Linux Questions the ones he asked were

    1. How do you get the IP address on a linux machine
    2. How do you make sure you are in the right directory on a linux machine

I was nervous and I hope I did not bomb the interview!!!! I know I did well on the Windows Admin part of the interview because I explained in detail what I did and what commands I ran and how I used ADUC....

I will keep the updates coming I hope to hear something by wed (thats what my manager said he hopes to have an answer by then)

    FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also looked up the answers to the Linux questions that he asked and emailed him a thank you note with the answers under the thank you message.

I've been surprised before by interviews that I thought did not go well only to receive an offer letter afterwards. I've been on both sides of the table and I can say that it's hard to know what the interviewer(s) are looking for. At the end of the day, you can only answer the questions to the best of your ability. Good luck and keep us posted!

    ifconfig / hostname -i
    pwd (present working directory)

I think Windows versions are ipconfig and cwd, respectively?

Even if you don't do so hot, take it as a learning experience. You know what the job entails and can focus your self-studying around it. Maybe make friends w/ someone in the depth and try to shadow them once a week for 1-3 hours and get them to teach you a few tips or tricks. Then you can re-apply in a few months.
That's only if you didn't do so hot.

Hopefully you did better than you think you did. I've left a few interviews thinking I did bad and still go a job interview. Often people bank on likeability, baseline knowledge, and what seems like an eagerness to learn the parts that you don't already know.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

    Right....

I have done interviews where I did not know the answers or a answered them wrong only to get a call back for a second interview. What threw me off though is I asked him "what are the next steps" and he said "Oh I really don't know, I was just asked to do this interview to kinda see where you were... I would think you will either have another interview or they will be in touch with you to let you know something"

A lot of the Networking questions threw me off because he heavily focused on Networking. Now I know I need to keep studying Linux and Learn Networking so I will start studying CCNA stuff over this weekend and focus on Networking Linux, and throw some powershell and Command prompt in there too.

ifconfig is deprecated as of RHEL 7. Use ip a (short for ip address show), also to see the routing table, use ip r (short for ip route show).
