Hi folks, what are opinions on this cert for the cv? I am currently studying it but have seen people say its mainly a sales cert and pretty worthless with no ROI, fair statement? or have i it mixed up with another.

Personally, I don't think getting it is worth paying for. I only have it because I got it for free during a promotion about a year back.

I don't list it on my resume, but I do include it on my LinkedIn account. I've had people mention it in multiple interviews in a favorable light. It could help you impress HR or a hiring manager, but getting the cert might not necessarily make you better at a job that includes working in vCenter/vSphere.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

I think you're mixing VCA with VCP.

VCA is the starter cert, it's not that popular and doesn't count for much in the industry, if you do decide to go ahead the training for it is free (it's not the Install Configure Manage class) - more here: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64779&ui=www_cert

VCP is where things get serious in terms of a certification that employers, partners, and recruiters will recognise. That's where the Install Configure Manage class comes in - more here: vSphere 6 Training and Certification

You can take the training with an authorised training partner, but it's also offered by some academic institutions - search this board for Stanly

I think I've mentioned it before but there isn't a lot of demand for the VCA beyond the tier 2 level at my workplace. It's a requirement to have it within your first year.

The VCP is quickly becoming a mandatory cert to get into any job and totally worth having. If you're paying out of pocket do Stanley if you're in an eligible area. They have some states and countries in which they can't provide training so make sure you're aware of those limitations.

I recently went on the to VCP6 fast track course to prepare for work do the exam once I gain more experience but on the course the tutor told us as of VCP6 the VCA exam is now a requirement before taking the VCP exam.

That's definitely wrong, path 1 for the VCP6-DCV lists all the requirements for someone who has never taken VMware training or a VMware exam before.
