question off topic -excel-
I'm having problems opening a excel file, when i try to open it it gives me a error saying the file format is not valid. are there any solutions for this or have i lost that file fo good?? its an important file please share your ideas thanks.

was the file oringally created with excel? does it have the correct extension?A+ Moderator -

yes originaly created in excel, and .xls is the extension

okay. i think that rules out microsoft works as it has different extensions to those in office. could the file have been created with a newer or older version of excel than the one you are using?A+ Moderator
