I feel silly having to post this question - but I could not find the answer using google.
when you view the data store directory of VM server (ESXi), you find the vmware.log file for the server, each vm has its own Vmware.log file
How do you read / view the file? I am having a total brain cramp and I am surprised I cant find the answer on line. All I want to do is open the log file up.
If someone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

You can run the "cat" command and that will allow you to view the file contents. From there you can grep, etc. -

Download the file to your desktop and then open with any text editor (notepad, wordpad, etc.). -

+1 for Cat, you can SSH into the host and run that to see the text. You can also GREP on a term if you're looking for something in particular. It's very handy if you know something changed on a VM but don't know what changed. I wrote up more details about it here.
