Where's a good place to start with storage concepts?

quickman007quickman007 Member Posts: 195
I was reading some threads yesterday and realized I don't know jack poopoo about storage. Not really looking to get certified, just want to understand the basics. When I studied for the VCP there was mention of LUNs and some other things that weren't really explained. It was more of a "just know it exists" situation, but I'd like to know a little more about it all. Does anyone have any material on the subject for a beginner?

Thanks you.

I would guess youtube is your best bet.

I use youtube all the time. No point in paying for subscription.

I'll check YouTube out. I'm always hesitant with YouTube because the material doesn't go over any kind of proofing. Browsing through the storage section on Safari Books to see if there's anything as well.

A lot of times there are shorten version of the real product that is vetted the same as the paid product. It's a form of marketing and you are able to review some of the information for free. I was able to review 4 chapters from CBT legally covering a SQL nugget. 4 full chapters and for free! That was vetted the exact same as the original product. Oh and it was VERY helpful.

You just have to use good judgement.

I use Udemy and edX.org and they have some storage courses out there.

I've heard good things about this book. I was going to get it a while back but I ended up moving into my current role and away from storage.

Storage+ is still decent material. The certification is gone though.

I'll definitely have to check those classes out. I forgot all about edX. Has anyone read this book? Its got good reviews and seems like a decent introduction.
