I've already read Mike Meyer's book and I'm halfway through reading the Exam Cram n+ and taking some practice tests. I'm definitely not ready for the CCNA. I need to get hands-on practice first. I almost don't care if I get a job or not.

This is a free course on Netacad and is available now. So if you want to get a head start, you could sign up for this course. Worst case you get a feel for how Cisco views CyberSecurity.

The approximate time commitments required for the web-based training are as follows: 15 hours for the "Introduction to Cybersecurity" course, 100 to 120 hours for the "Understanding Cisco Cybersecurity Fundamentals" (SECFND) course, and 100 to 115 hours for the "Implementing Cisco Cybersecurity Operations" (SECOPS) course.
OctalDump wrote: » The proposed CCNA Cyber Ops course that half of us have signed up for, includes as its first module this "Introduction to Cybersecurity" course, which is free. This is followed by 2 more courses which are not yet available, each corresponding to one of the two CCNA Cyber Ops exams. So this "Introduction to Cybersecurity" is just the first 15 hours of a ~250 hours total of study. But it gives a taste, and gets one bit out of the way. Also it is possible that the Introduction to CyberSecurity course will be updated before the Cyber Ops course actually runs.
