    Nice!

Is your blog hosted in AWS?
  • ClaymooreClaymoore Member Posts: 1,637
No, it's WordPress hosted on Azure. My company has been a pure MS partner for a long time and our blogging platform was migrated a few months after we started supporting AWS. If I had my own personal blog, I would host it on AWS. However, I don't blog enough to justify paying the hosting fees.

Good stuff man! I passed the exam already. But this study guide is pretty comprehensive. You should put it on Reddit AWS too!

I'd be keen to work with you on getting the DevOps Professional guide. I have already passed that exam too though.

Boom! Made this thread a sticky. Once again, Claymoore, you've put together an excellent lineup of study material for those of us following the path behind you.

    Thanks for sharing this. icon_thumright.gif

@Claymoore ....Wanna ask a silly question. If someone want to move from windows system admin to AWS, what cert should he chase to begin with?
  • DoubleNNsDoubleNNs Member Posts: 2,015 ■■■■■□□□□□
@Muhammed H - the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate should be your first certification.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

@DoubleNNs ...Thanks for the reply man. By the way, is that ok for someone with zero cloud experience/knowledge to go for that cert?

It's as good a start as ever. If you sign up for AWS, for a year you'll have a "free tier" of services on your account. Great to play around w/ get your feet wet, and pay little to nothing. You can go through almost all of the exam topics from within the free tier.

Edit: Out of curiosity, have you looked at the MS Azure certifications?
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect

Well, the answer is NO. I passed 70-410 exam about 3 month ago, now working on 70-411. Don't know shall I go for Server Infrastructure or change my direction towards MS Azure. But really I want to switch my career to Cloud but not sure where or how to start.

That's the most detailed guide i've seen.
Just have one question: With each of the AWS services's FAQ, do i need to remember everything?
There are too many content in each FAQ and other documents which is so hard to remember.

Looking forward to digging in to this soon. Thanks for posting.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Thanks for the list. I think it could be used to prepare for DevOps Pro too.

This is coming from a non-Cloud person what so ever, where would you all recommend I start. Is there a baseline cert or something that I could get my feet wet in?

    Google.

Learn some basics on cloud from Googling and Wikipedia. Might also want to explore some podcast options. Then get a free-tier AWS account and start w/ the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate cert.

That AWS cert blog material is now two years old. A lot has changed on the exams since then. Any update planned?

Hello, every link above downloads a zip file which has 'download' file in it without any file extension. Could you please let me know how to open your complete blog? Many thanks!
