BCRAN tomorrow

Ok, my BCRAN is tomorrow. I think I'm ready. I want it done so I can finish with the CIT in December, then relax for a month or so.

So did I read right that modems aren't on the exam? While I know them pretty well, if I can cut that knowledge out for the test, it's helpful.

Good Luck!

Last the I checked the blueprint, there was still something about remote something-or-other... I guess if you've already read the modem stuff -- don't forget it. If you haven't read it yet, take a glance and remember the basic configuration stuff.

If you know them "pretty well" you should be fine, anyone else taking the exam, read through the section in whatever BCRAN book you have on modems, something might sneak in.

NO MODEMS. do a quick review of frame, isdn and vpn and you will be fine

Nope. 785, needed 790.

A specific ISDN sim killed me. I couldn't get it to dial, and it wouldn't let me put in the access-list that I thought it should have. So I was probably wrong on my access-list. Ugh.

But, on the bright side, apparently you can still schedule this exam, so I'll retake it on the 27th.

Could you provide some info about your exam experience overall? I'm taking mine on the 19th of December.
Without giving to much away, of course.

Sorry to hear that.

Beware the ISDN sims, one nearly sunk me, too. Didn't behave like I expected, and put me behind for the rest of the exam.

make sure ur know dialer map and dialer group commands.. also dont forget acl. ISDN sim was a pain in the ass though

It was the acl that got me. Either that or the stupid static route. I had the dialer group and all that. Then I got panicky to finish it, cause it was taking me forever.

I don't see ISDN on the blueprint at all - hopefully someone can confirm what I'm hoping!!

Dude you are looking at the ISCW exam, not BCRAN.

Ouch.... It took me about a month to get over my one 5 point failure.

But I did take another test before I got back in the saddle and whooped the new replacement test (IDS --> IPS).

But were there any modems on the exam? Oh -- NDA... um, would reading the modem material in the books cover any of the exam blueprint topics? Cough once for yes, twice for no.

And don't forget that you do get liberal partial credit for SIMs... so don't waste too much time on them and let it mess you up on the regular questions.

I still think "teleworker" in that new exam blueprint could be code for ISDN.

Anyway, have you ever been sitting there thinking about something else, and the command you should've used just comes to you? That was me last night. Sitting there playing with my new Wii, and bam, the command I should've used instead of an ACL comes to me. Dammit.

Anyway, I'm taking it again Monday, and I'll nail it this time.

i had an isdn sim that took me 15 min ( thats not normal) mainly on my part for mis reading what it had asked for.

with isdn you have to remember to:

set the switch type
config the dialer
config the bri
config the acl(s) and then add them to a dailer list

this may be missing something..

I took the exam and I swear over 65% of the questions were on ISDN and it realy sucked but I managed to pass. On to CIT.

Still a ton of ISDN, but I handled it much better this time.

So, CIT on the 15th of December, and I'm done!

Yeah, I used The Bryant Advantage Study guide, his rack rentals, and Dynamips.

I screwed up on the first test because I had read the backup load conditions wrong. Had I understood them properly the first time, I would've passed first try. Went back and read my study guide, and there is was right there.

Yeah. Frame and queueing you can practice on Dynamips. I needed to see the ISDN stuff again.

However, you can't do VPN stuff on his racks. That's where dynamips was a huge help.
