Can I do Microsfot 2016 70-743 test Or I must to do the 2012 MCSA 70-417 first?

Hey guys as title says: Can I do Microsfot 2016 70-743 test Or I must to do the 2012 MCSA 70-417 first?
I've searched online and got various answers.

    From their 70-743 page:

    Who should take this exam? ...
    Candidates have already earned an MCSA: Windows Server 2008 OR MCSA: Windows Server 2012 R2 certification.

    So yeah i'd say you can upgrade with 70-743 no problemo.

    If you have a MCSA Windows Server 2008 or 2012, you can do the 70-743 to get the MCSA Win Server 2016.
