As of this past Saturday morning I can now say that I am Security+ certified! I am excited about the new cert and pleased that I was able to pass on my first attempt. My score was a 781/900 which I thought could've been better, but a pass is a pass.

With my studying, I used the following materials:
  • Darril Gibon's CompTIA Security+: Get Certified Get Ahead Book
  • Darril Gibson's additional online questions
By using just these two resources, I was in a very comfortable position taking the exam. His practice questions are incredibly helpful and were very similar to the Security+ questions themselves. My biggest study tip would be to understand why each answer choice is either correct or incorrect. This is a very useful skill that will allow you to eliminate choices while in the exam. Do not just go through the practice questions and memorize the answer choices.

About the linux questions that people keep talking about, keep in mind that these are beta questions that may be used in the next version release of the security+. These will not actually effect your score. That would be wrong of CompTIA to do that.
