Looking to get into WGU Software Development Program

Hi everyone,

I've worked for HPE/HP for about 10 years and I'm looking to expand my skill sets and decided to get a 2nd bachelors degree. In order to get into WGU though I have to have experience in the IT side (I've been on the sales side) or a certificate. So I'm hoping you might be able to provide some insight and which cert would be the best to start with taking into account time and overall complication of the cert where I'll have to get it on my own. I need to get one of the following completed:

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Project+
  • CIW Site Development Associate

  • CIW User Interface Designer
  • CIW Advanced HTML5 and CSS Specialist

Probably whichever one you have the most experience with and most interest in completing

If I had no background in IT and for some reason I insisted on a second bachelor's from WGU (instead of a master's in IT from somewhere else and then just take whatever leveling courses) in software, given that list, I'd choose the CIW Advanced HTML5 and CSS Specialist with CIW Site Development Associate as 2nd choice.

The Advanced HTML5 looks to include JavaScript, which is about as close to programming as any of those other certs is going to be.
