Returning to Server/Desktop role - what certs?

I am currently employed as a Salesforce administrator. I took this job 6 years ago. Now I am wanting to get back into more of a server/desktop admin role. Previously I was employed as a DOD contractor working on pulling cable, writing implementation documents, migrating data over the network. I have basic experience with LUNs/SANs, Vmware.

Also have the following certifications however I haven't taken any exams since the job change:
CompTIA Security+ (2008 edition)
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA A+ (IT Technician)
Microsoft Certified Professional
MCTS - Windows Vista

My question is, what would be my best exam route into getting more desirable as a candidate for another Windows/Vmware Sys Admin?

MCSA: Windows 10 and MCSA: Server 2016 perhaps? Solid starting point at least. I'm in your position, and working on ITIL Foundation right now, but Win10 and S2016 are next for me.

Apologies, I meant in your position as in returning, not the Salesforce Admin. :)

so MCSA would be 698 and 697 exams, correct?

Those would be the Windows 10 ones, yes. MCSA for Server 2016 would be 740, 741 and 742.

Thanks I'll look into those. Sybex still the best books around?

I'm using Sybex for my ITIL Foundation, so I do rate them. However, I am using the Microsoft Exam Reference books for the Win10/S2016 exams, and I'm finding them both very informative and easy to read/understand. I would stick to those two brands, personally.

I've heard Salesforce Admins can make some good money and it is pretty easy work. The hard part is getting experience and getting in it, from people I've talked to. Why are you wanting to leave that just curious?

At my job, the Salesforce "team" consists of me only. I live in a small town which doesn't have hardly any industry. So there's not much if any opportunities for a Salesforce admin to change jobs in this area. There may be money in it in other locations, but here its just another application.

I do enjoy Salesforce somewhat, Im just looking to advance more. I did enjoy government work more than working for a company.
