WSUS - Machines Locking Up
We are currently running a Windows Server 2000 active directory domain with WSUS installed on one of the DCs.
When rolling out updates via WSUS certain machines will completely lock-up, no keyboard or mouse functions work and the only fix is to do a complete reboot of that machine. Once the machine has rebooted and the user logs in, almost instantly the yellow shield will appear in the user’s system tray.
Our Anti Virus sofware is Kaspersky Anti Virus 5.0, no users have local admin rights and all machines have almost identical software builds with varying hardware builds throughout the domain. This has only started to happen since we installed Kaspersky on all machines. The frustrating thing is that all there is no relation between the machines that this is happening on.
We have put exceptions in place for all WSUS related files within KAV, ensured that all machines are on different switches, compared event logs and there is absolutely nothing that even hints as to what the problem might be.
Any ideas?

Do you have the latest build of Kaspersky Anti Virus 5.0?

Also, they seem to have a V6 as well. If the problem just started after installing Kaspersky I would check there first, and call their tech support if necessary.http://usa.kaspersky.com/services/ All things are possible, only believe. -

6 for Windows Workstations (Not KIS 6) isn't on offical release yet and yes we have the latest build of 5.

There is a hotfix from Microsoft for this issue. Let me check the KB#...IT guy since 12/00
Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands... -

Well, actually this may not be the exact same issue, check to see if you have any processes at 100% cpu
