Passing MCSA with free videos and resources

Hi Guys,

I'm going to study for the 70-410 but don't have the money available to pay for video tutorials like Pluralsight and CBT Nuggets.

I have found this Playlist on YouTube which is from the Microsoft MCSA Learning Channel:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKWqPrqG4yyRl8JGRCzbwr5riYScPYkjL

I was going to use these videos and some other online resources.

1) can you recommend any free resources which are beneficial

2) is it realistic to pass only using free information - I'm guessing it is as there must be hundreds of different things out there for the MCSA.

    1) CBT Nuggets free 7-day trial
    2) Free 3-month subscription to Pluralsight (see link for details: https://www.visualstudio.com/dev-essentials/)
    3) NetworkedMinds - https://www.youtube.com/user/networkedminds/playlists
    4) http://www.techexams.net/forums/mcsa-mcse-windows-2012-general/88247-70-410-resources.html
    5) TechNet Virtual Labs - good for poking around and being exposed to Server 2012 R2.
    6) You can also download evaluation versions of 2012 R2 from Microsoft.
    7) Sheet that I found. Has cmdlets, etc. - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_L8SAXFYN1VEANHzjwaas0MYGsthtljyfvhdYfTn7rs/edit#gid=0

This can get you started. You'll probably want a good book, but I can't find one for free. If you can shell out $20-30 (I think) you can get the PDF version of Poulton's OCG for the 70-410.

As far as passing using free resources? Depends on your current knowledge and skills. It's hard for me to say yes or no. But, I would believe it's possible. Definitely know all the exam objectives here.

I was having a hard time passing, but improved and passed due to the pluralsite videos covering the material better than the free stuff I was using.

I thought I'd also make a point to be very cautious when using material that's not been reviewed/tested. I was actually glancing at someone's 410 notes that they posted (I don't think it was here) for everyone to use, and caught an error when it came to using PS to convert GUI to Core and vice versa. I knew that part of the person's notes were wrong because CBT, Pluralsight, TechNet and the OCG said otherwise.

Some personal notes I've seen are fantastic and some are questionable...and I know all books and courses aren't flawless either. However, just be aware and always try to use multiple sources when studying.

    Best of luck!

cybrary.it is good as well as Microsofts website has some free training.
You can also see if a friend or colleague has a book you can borrow and use.
Ask around or see if people that have taken and passed the MCSA on this forum has any notes you can have to use to study. Also your local library may have a MCSA book you can check out.
