As a heads up to those still waiting for their cohort to start, Safari Books has the study guides as well as a video series for each exam. Since my cohort doesn't start until December, this is a good opportunity to get a jump on things and see what sort of content this cert covers.

Hello, short version of my story...hoping to break into Cyber Security in my retail company. I have 15 yrs in Leadership positions, currently Regional Leader in Supply Chain Loss Prevention. If you were in my shoes trying to get into the Cisco scholarship with no experience and knowing what you know now, which would you pursue first to just qualify for the Cisco Scholarship (hint: I'm looking for the path of least resistance)
Basic technical competency (possess one or more of the following):
    • Cisco certification (Cisco CCENT certification or higher)
    • Relevant industry certification [(ISC)2, CompTIA Security+, EC-Council, GIAC, ISACA]
    • Cisco Networking Academy letter of completion (CCNA 1 and CCNA 2)
    • Windows expertise: Microsoft (Microsoft Specialist, MCSA, MCSE), CompTIA (A+, Network+, Server+)
    • Linux expertise: CompTIA (Linux+), Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certification, Linux Foundation (LFCS, LFCE), Red Hat (RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA), Oracle Linux (OCA, OCP)

    Where you found this?
I'm just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry

    xx+ certs...and I'm not counting anymore

I would go the CCNA R&S and Security+ route, to be honest. That is for starters. The SECFND is a general networking/security course, so the two certs I mentioned will prepare you well for the first exam. The SECOPS exam is different but they give you quite a bit to work with, though probably not enough to pass the exam.

I'm just now seeing this. I have a few questions, and I'm sure they've been answered already, but there are forty-eight pages here to sift through. So I apologize in advance for the repeat questions.

Is this open to anyone? It says it's for people that are planning a career in cybersecurity. What about people that already work in cybersecurity? It has the minimum requirements, but it doesn't list any maximum requirements.

How does this factor into taxes? Scholarships for anything other than a degree are taxable, so if the courses are worth a couple grand each, at three classes, that's six grand. Plus certification attempts on top of that. Is it accurate to say I'd be looking at almost two grand come tax time if I did this?

There are no maximum requirements. Application is open to anyone. Its free, there is no cost associated with it so you will not be taxed.

Well, passed with 930/1000 in 210-250 SECFND.

    Network Concepts 88%
    Security Concepts 100%
    Cryptography 75%
    Host-Based Analysis 100%
    Security Monitoring 100%
    Attack Methods 79%

I blame ambiguous wording for not getting a higher score. Seems to be a Cisco tradition.

Going to make sure I understand the exam objectives for the 210-255 SECOPS since it seems to be an unforgiving exam.

Passed today on 210-250 with the score 883/1000.

I really thing Cisco should have much more labs in their exams overall, what do you think?
    CCNA R&S, MCSA.

I received an email on 8/30/2017 to re-acknowledge my interest in the program. I guess it has been about a year since I was initially accepted. In the email was a link to choose a different cohort so I selected the one for 9/24/2017. I'll see if I get moved to that one instead of having to wait until next year.

Same. I attempted to move mine from December 2017 up to 9/24. We will see...
Up next: On Break, but then maybe CCNA DC, CCNP DC, CISM, AWS SysOps Administrator

Did anybody else just get this email? I was accepted into the program already and was due to start in Dec 2017 I also go the recent email last week asking if I wanted to start a different date and selected 24/9/2017. I'd love to know what is going on here now.

We caught your attention last year with the announcement of our Cisco Global Cybersecurity Scholarship, enough to inspire you to apply. It is our regret that we could not provide a scholarship to everyone who applied.
Cisco recently launched new e-learning training for the two courses that lead to CCNA Cyber Ops certification: “Understanding Cisco Cybersecurity Fundamentals” (SECFND) and “Implementing Cisco Cybersecurity Operations” (SECOPS). Each course sells for $1500.
For you, as a previous scholarship applicant, we’d like to provide an opportunity to purchase these two courses at $500 apiece. That’s a savings to you of $2000. It is an offer that we are making solely to those Cisco Global Cybersecurity Scholarship candidates who we were not able to satisfy with a scholarship. It will not be available to the general public.
If your enthusiasm for cybersecurity has remained high since the scholarship announcement, we want to let you know that you are still wanted and needed in this field!

I opened a ticket with support and they have since come back saying that I am still on the list and they're investigating why the email went out to people that were accepted on program, it was only meant for people that didn't get accepted into the program. So I'm still on the list to start soon. Happy out. Plus I just passed CCNA Security today (second attempt)

Is there a practice test for this exam?

I haven't been able to find one yet.

Received the same email the moment i read this threadicon_cry.gif. I was in the December slot but selected the 24 Sept slot thinking that I can start the course early. Hoping it's just a goof-up from Cisco's side.

    Follow up email from Cisco:

    Dear Valued Student,
You may have received a recent email from us in error, and for this we apologize. The email offered a discount on Cybersecurity training and was sent by mistake to some students who are already participating in the Cisco Global Cybersecurity Scholarship program. This has understandably created some confusion.
If you have already received communications from us about being accepted into the Cisco Global Cybersecurity Scholarship program, received a cohort assignment, or are waiting for your cohort assignment, please disregard the earlier email about a discount on training. Students who recently completed our survey to update their contact information or move to a different cohort start date will receive an email confirmation by Friday, September 8, 2017.
Learning@Cisco is committed to supporting your career in the Cybersecurity field, and we appreciate your interest in our programs. Again, we apologize for any misunderstanding the discount email may have caused.
    Sincerely,
    Learning@Cisco
