Hello Guys,


I am new to networking field. I need some help.I'm setting up a lab. These equipment I bought for my ccna R+S then CCNA Voice course. I would really appreciate if someone can help me to
setup my lab and how to make the connections, IOS,Ram etc. Kindly provide me with the details of missing items and equiment to use for both the labs. Let me know from where I can get the information about
the configuration of my lab. Thanks for your valuable time. If I have to upgrade the flash what command I can use on both router and switch. How I can setup TFTP.

    as far as voice goes, this equipment only supports up to version 4.x. And, well the test is on something like 8.6. you are better off getting equipment that can run at least the version that your going to see on the exam.

    the 2950 switches look ok. The ios on the 3550 is terible outdated.

    The routers have out dated ios also. But, your going to need to upgrade the ram before installing a newer ios version. And, the same goes for flash. except for the 1760.

    Thanks for your valuable time sir. Can you share the IOS name for Switches and Routers? I'll upgrade Ios, Ram and Flash for 2600xm. I have recently ordered 2821 router.

    [FONT=&quot]c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA13.bin ios on the one switch is good enough for the other 2950 switches. Just copy it to them. Don't have the ios names handy right now.
    for the 2821 your going to want 512 ram and at least 128cf and 256mb cf would be better
    i'd upgrade the routers to 128mb ram and 32mb flash.

    Do I have to upgrade the boot rom as well. If yes what size I can upgrade upto. Please suggest the supported size as per the hardware.

    the boot rom you have supports up to 128mb ram. That is enough for what your doing. So, no need to upgrade the boot rom.
    you want to have a total of 32mb of flash. I think the 2600xm come with 16 on board by default. So, you only need add a 16mb flash stick.
    And, the 1760 comes with 32mb by default. not sure what the default ram is. google the cisco memory upgrade on those routers to find out.

    anyway, you will need at least ip base for the ccna. of course, for voice you'd need ip voice. Then for the ccna security, you need the adv security feature set. And, to do ipv6 along with security, service provider, and voice you will need the adv ip services feature set. And lastly, to do everything that is possible, get the adv enterprise feature set.

    1- I have 2 2620xm and they have 1 FE0/0 port available but both routers have WIC-2T & WIC-1B-S/T-V3 1-Port ISDN WAN Interface Card. 1760 router have VWIC-2MFT and it also have 1 FE0/0. How will I make the connections b/w them.

    Well, there is the easy straight forward way. and there is the "I'm a network engineer and I know how to deal with this".

    1) the straight forward way
    you put a router that has 2 fast ethernet (or better) ports between networks to route the traffic. unfortunately, the majority of your routers only have one fast ethernet port.
    2) the "I know some networking" solution
    You divide a switch into vlans. setup a router on a stick to route traffic between the vlans. setup nat to connect to your isp. setup routing to send all internet traffic to the port connected to your isp. You get all that setup and working, and know what your doing, you have half the ccna test passed.

    isp <-rj45-> vlanA <-trunk1-> router 1 <-trunk1-> vlanB <-trunk2-> router 2 <-trunk2-> vlanC etc.
    and you can always use trunking to "extend" your vlans to other switches.

    but, doing this is more of a "ccna final exam/are you ready for the real world" kind of thing. This is way beyond Chapter 1 of the CCNA book. But, it is all things a CCNA should be able to do.
