Hello everyone! Longtime lurker here and I finally get decided to register. Anyway, my first post will be a question regarding CTA, does any of you guys currently enrolled in California Technical Academy specifically in temecula? and if you are, any thoughts regarding their programs? I am deciding if this a right training for me.

I am interested with one of their program called Information Technology Computer Systems Engineer (MCSE) which includes:
CompTIA A+ (Tech)
MCTS Technical Specialist/Client Admin – Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows Client O.S
Pre-requisite — Sys. Admin. – Installing and Configuring Windows Server 12
Pre-requisite — Sys. Admin. – Administering Windows Server 12
MCSA Systems Administrator/Solutions Associate – Configuring Advanced Windows Server 12 Services
Pre-requisite — Sys. Eng. – Designing and Implement a Server Infrastructure 12
MCSE Systems Engineer/Solutions Expert – – Implementing Advanced Server Infrastructure <-- This one can replace with CASP or CCNA

This program is 15 months long training and will cost me $14,430 or they will just take 8 months from my GI Bill. If you guys have any experience with their programs kindly let me know. Thanks!!

I don't attend CTA, but I would advise you not to burn 8 months of your GI Bill benefit on a school that's only going to get you a handful of certs.

If you've been out of the service for less than 5 years, check out the SANS Immersion Academy: https://www.sans.org/cybertalent/immersion-academy
Or, if you've got little interest in going the SANS route, check out Syracuse University's Institute for Veteran's and Military Families: https://ivmf.syracuse.edu/our-programs/ - there are a couple of programs that might interest you like Onward to Opportunity or VetNet.

I'll second the SANS academy - it's been a great program so far, and not having to pay for these certs is am amazing deal. Looks like you're trying to go down the Windows/Microsoft path. Were you working on MS systems in your rate/field or is it something that just interests you?

I already check the SANS Immersion Academy and I did not met the requirements, additionally, their current academies is in St. Louis, MO. I will definitely check the VetNet and Onward to Opportunity. Thanks!

Not a fan of MS cert, it is part of the program that is why I mentioned it. To answer your question yes I do have little experience in MS, I've been tasked out to reimage some of our laptops. But other than that that is my only experience in MS. Thanks for the reply.

Do you have an associates or a bachelors degree? If you don't, then I suggest getting some certs along the way to a BS at WGU.
The certs/exams are included in the tuition, and tuition is about $3000/6 month term. If you finish the degree, it may take 2 terms.
That is a degree and industry recognized certs for $6000/year. I would think that would be more useful than CTA's certs.
If it was for myself, I would want a better recognized school, that's also cheaper/easier/faster to get to my current goals.

    mrton,

While researching CTA I came across this post.

I am also interested in attending CTA in Temecula using the post 911 G.I. Bill. I am not sure if you decided to attend the school, but could I contact you with few questions?

    Thanks

I did not attend the school because I pursued my undergraduate. Go ahead message me if you have questions regarding CTA.
