Best material is very subjective. I would say whatever you used and liked for the other exams should suffice. I like the MS Press books myself, combined with CBT Nuggets.

You should also be familiar with the skills being tested:

As far as how many questions, I don't know and I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think MS calls them SIMS, but you will probably have one or more Hot Area or Drag and Drop questions.
All things are possible, only believe.

Just a word of advice. I have heard from several coworkers that the MSPRESS book for 70-293 is very terrible and they all recommended Syngress. I took their advice and bought the Syngress book which was only around $8 from their website. The Syngress book was well written and helped me prepare for the 70-293 exam pretty well. I then used my coworkers MSPRESS book and read the chapters on Clustering and Certificates which were sub par compared to the chapters that were in the Syngress book.

I used the MS Press book for this exam and I thought it was very poorly written. The first 3 chapters were almost exclusively covering stuff that anyone taking this exam should already know.

I read the Sybex book as well, which was a little better, but still not great. I just read some of the reviews on Amazon for the MS Press book and most of the bad ones are right on with how I felt about the book. I would recommend getting some Transcender practice exams to go with whatever book you choose.

At any rate ... good luck!
