Hey guys,

I need to know how I can pass the devops pro certification with no expereince in devops or linux sysadmin, I am coming from a 3rd line Wintel background and I am want to pass this devops cert and land a devops job in london.

Right now im trying to learn some of the tools in VMware workstation, docker, chef and looking at the blueprint but i need some guidance on a good strategy, I don't know anyone doing devops. So only help I can get is online.

Is it possible to pass this cert just by learning at home with no devops experience.

I just noticed your PM today.

I don't have the DevOps pro cert but instead have the SysOps associate certification. Do you have either the AWS SysOps or AWS Developer certifications?
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming

You need to pass BOTH the AWS SysOps and AWS Developer exams before you're eligible for the AWS DevOps cert.
You don't need a DevOps job first, but you do need some exposure to AWS to be able to pass the exam. If you don't have prior experience, you might have to lab twice as hard as someone else.

Can i get an AWS/Devops job once I've passed all 3 associates and Linux+/LPIC-1. It should be easy once I pass all 3 to get a devops role right with linux.

DoubleNNs, are you in a devops role at the moment?

You do not need to pass both exams - only one is required to sit for the DevOps Engineer exam.

Frankly, I do not think I would hire someone with no experience and just these certifications. I have passed the DevOps Engineering exam and I would not pursue a DevOps position. You need to be able to program in a language - Python, Java, Go, Ruby. Without this fundamental skill, I think it will be difficult to find a DevOps position.

Yes and no. To me DevOps is more of a philosophy than a role.My official title is "Systems Administrator."
However, I do as much cross functional tasks as I can and have done a ton of automation (both my programming/script and by using tools), process improvement, metric measurement (monitoring) and some CI/CD empowerment, and training of fellow teammates.

Absolutely correct Mitechniq. I was wrong; think I misread the "or" as an "and" in the past.
