hey MX gurus!

i want to have a mailing list group that the members are not
in Active Directory. I want to import all their email addresses
say via XLS or CVT documents. I am talking thousands.
Like say 3000 emails' is this possible to put all in one group name
and able to use to email people??

Thanks
I know how to make groups but not sure how to handle groups not
in our domain; these are out customer base? thanks guys

The only way I could think of doing that would be importing their addresses and info into a mail server or even just the Windows address book. I don't think AD supports setting up mailing lists the way you're describing, without Exchange (or another mail server) in place. In the meantime, the best suggestion I've got is to import all those addresses into something like Outlook and setting up the mailing lists there as part of the address book. I'm not really sure if the address book will support thousands and thousands or users, mind you, but it's a place to start.

Try csvde.exe with an object class of "contact". You can import from a csv file.

    Check out KB 327620.
All things are possible, only believe.

    HEY TECHIES
my steps: it missed a few but got most into a distro group in Outlook 2003:

step1: query language to extract NAME and EMAIL fields two colomns
    convert into a csv file.

step2: save csv file into a txt file delimited (windows)

step3: Import into Outlook2003 into my Contacts list.

    Step4: Create Distribution group.

done! massive I havent tried the 3000 contacts yet did a test run with 10.
and it worked great. But 3000 we shall see? haaha

    thank everyone
