I Passed The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Exam

My thoughts on the Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner
First off this is an introductory exam so you’re not going to be deep in the weeds spinning up instances from your Golden AMI. This Cert is broad and high level but it will give you the knowledge to go into a meeting and know what they are talking about This would be something great for entry level techs/engineers, sales teams, managers, and the people with C’s in their titles.
How long did it take me to study? Two days, I was already in the process of studying for the architect exam so I knew all the core services already. If you were to grind and study you could defiantly knock this exam out in two weeks.

There are two courses I would recommend if you are familiar with the AWS core services (S3, EC2, VPC, RDS, ELB) you will most likely just need to take the 5 hour class made specifically for this exam. If you don’t know the core services I would take the Architect class first.
Amazon AWS has some free training that I have never used https://aws.amazon.com/training/

Resources /Reading

Here are the required readings

https://d0.awsstatic.com/whitepapers/AWS_Cloud_Best_Practices.pdf
https://d0.awsstatic.com/whitepapers/aws_pricing_overview.pdf
https://d1.awsstatic.com/whitepapers/aws-tco-web-applications.pdf
https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/compare-plans/

TIPS
Tams only come with enterprise level support
Know the two calculators (TCO & Monthly)
Inspector covers security
Trusted Advisor covers Cost Optimization, Performance, Security, Fault Tolerance and service limits
Reading the white papers is extremely important

It depends, your not required to know how to do anything technical you will only be able to talk to the points of what the services are. so if your looking to do anything other than knowing what what the services are and how AWS can be a asset to a organization.

For security professionals i would say the architect , sysop or the security specialty when it comes out.

Nice, mind me asking what was the reasoning for taking this entry exam if you're already studying for the architect exam?

Two reason because I don't have any professional cloud experience i figured getting all related certs would make my resume look better. And honestly for 100 dollars i wanted the challenge and boost of confidence with passing

Congrats on passing! Did the exam ask specific details about the TCO and Monthly Calculator, or just general questions about them?

Congrats on the pass. I had previously been studying for the architect exam before work caught up with me. With your gentle suggestion, I'm scheduling to take this this weekend with a few days prep for studying.

Passed. I would recommend studying the tiered support plans whitepaper. I had read over it but not committed it to memory, and I think that was my main weakness not remembering which support teams started where. But overall pretty much know their different services, and specific use cases where they are beneficial. The other quarter was mainly industry standards best practices.

congrats. I am looking to give this just to get into AWS path, most likely will take it end of this month. Just wondering how many questions are there as it seems a 1.5hr exam?

    thanks.

I only got 67 questions out of the pool, so I only really needed a 1/2 hour. I think this might be random since there is no set number of questions listed on the exam guide, just the percentage needed to pass and the weight against each topic.
