3750-48port PoE switch - Urgent

Hi Guys,

I have ordered 3750-48 ps V2 PoE switch but the seller sent the 3750-48 Ps PoE switch. What's the difference between these two models? Which one is better between 3750 and 3750V2?

which is better would depend on the environment you are putting the switch into.

but, as stand alone units, a big difference is the amount of flash memory. 3750 has 16mb and can not run version 15 of the ios. the 3750V2 has 32mb of flash memory and can run version 15 of the ios.

Thanks for sharing the information. I'm using this for my home lab.Last night I tried to upload the ios (c3750-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SE11.bin)through xmodem (hyperterminal). Which took almost 7-8 hours and later I got an error insufficient space. Now, I'll try to upload another IOS (c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin) because he will take 10-15 business days for the replacement.

You can actually increase the speed of the XMODEM transfer from the standard 9600 bps (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/2600-series-multiservice-platforms/15085-xmodem-generic.html). :)

I'd say return that switch and get the one that does IOS 15.

Do you really want to buy the hardware for CUE? The new CCIE blueprint for example references virtualized Unity Connection Express (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity_exp/rel9_0/install/cue_install_book.html). the NME-CUE is phased out. Doubt you'll see it in production or anything. 29xx / 39xx (ISR G2) models make use of SRE modules and the 44XX routers use containers (using again an OVA) to deploy voicemail. Might be worth having a look at the OVA for CUE.

    Just my 2 cents.

March 15,2018 I'm going to join my ccna R+S class before that I want to be ready with all the equipment's. Pretty new to the networking field. I bought these books Todd Lamle and ccna voice Jeremy. My friend told me it's very important to see the physical equipment's to get the better understanding about hardware and for hands on experience. I Checked online some blogs and forums and I bought the below mentioned hardware for myself. I'm struggling for the missing modules and hardware for my home lab. If you can guide me with the missing hardware and modules. I'll really appreciate your help and support regarding the same. Atleast for the ccnp or ccvp level hardware home lab. Any suggestion regarding books or study material.

That hardware is good if you want to do CCNA R&S and CCNP R&S maybe with *some* voice.

FYI - there's no such thing as CCVP anymore nor CCNP:Voice. Everything's moved to CCNP:Collaboration as of late 2015 which requires CUCM, Unity, IM/P Releases 10.5 along with ISR G2 hardware (29xx, 39xx).

Recently, Cisco have published the refreshed CCIE:Collaboration track which will see retired a LOT of the good ol' voice stuff (ISDN, MGCP, H323) pushing more towards virtualization. I suspect sometime this year or next year, they might do the same for CCNA and CCNP:Collaboration.

Thanks for your reply. I'll not purchase hardware anymore. I believe this lab can't be used for ccna-voice/collaboration as well. I searched couple of them.Do you have any link to look for ccna-collaboration hardware?

    Look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tebwey7b5Nw
The meat of Collaboration will be the video-enabled endpoints which will burn a hole in your pocket. You'll need at least 1 x ISR G2 router with PVDM3 resources for video conferencing. It's not cheap.

..and a little more info even on the PVDM3 modules for video which Cisco stepped away from as of late 2015. To my shame, I wasn't aware of their official position regarding video conferencing on ISR G2: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/tdm-gateways/bulletin-c25-735945.html
