Passed the written

I passed the written today. Actually not too bad of a test, but I probably should have spent a little more time on a few subjects (mcast, Security, QoS). All multiple choice, no "choose all that apply".

Congrats. So what is your game plan on tackling the lab? Have you built a lab already or are in process of doing so?

Well, I am going to be working on finallizing my plans this weekend. I need to do some self-assement to determine where I need to focus, but for now I plan to use the next 2 months or so building base knowledge (read Doyle I & II, some IPv6, a bunch of RFCs, re-read Odom on QoS, Halibi, some of the switching stuff from the NP and do some lab work) I will be buying the Internetwork Expert workbook, and probably core workbook when the new version comes out, and it looks like they will be rolling the technology labs into that. Sometime towards the end of February - Mid March I plan to take one of the assessor labs, and do some re-focusing at that point. Plan A is to schedule the lab for the end of June with an assessor a couple weeks before the reschedule deadline, with a rematch some time in August/September and one more towards the end of the year if needed. :)

Lab is mainly going to be Dynamips/online rental/work. (I get to head up a project that will likely include a BGP routed internet connection, etc, and as Darby said, just show commands on a live network can be very helpful)

Then take a break after passing. I very delibrately have no plans for more tests after the lab for a while.

All plans but the last are subject to change without notice.

May also sneak the BGP and QoS exams in as part of studying those topics.

I am thinking RTP if I can get my date there. A little closer, so less jet lag
