ITIL 4 Foundation Exam

Has anyone taken this exam who could provide a review. I am currently training with Leaderquest, in preparation for the test.
Also, if I could hear of any real world experience using the ITIL concepts, that would be helpful.

thanks!

Hi James, I didn't want to leave you with no answers here! I'm an ITIL trainer so I'm answering from that angle. In general, the exam feedback we get is that it's a fair exam and the questions are pretty similar to the sample exams that you get. The pass rate is around 90/95% so if you've studied, you shouldn't need to worry too much. I'm not familiar with Leaderquest but if they're an accredited training provider, they should prep you adequately.

As for real world experience - I've been in the ITIL world for 20 years now, so let me know what sort of information you're looking for and I'm happy to help. Claire

Pat...listen to Claire! She is not only a trainer, but has written books for the exam, as well.

    Thank you both for responding.
Claire, the ITIL 4 Foundation course has been a great intro to the IT field. I'm curious, though, about how often I can use the ITIL principals during a career in Cyber Sec.
Also, if I am focusing on a career in Security, would it be worth my time to take a next level cert with ITIL?
I am completely new to the IT field and any info given is greatly appreciated.

I would stick with the foundation cert and then move on. Unless you really enjoy the subject, it would be better for you to focus on certifications directly related to infosec .  Later down the line if you want to you can go after additional ITIL certifications.

Hi James, really glad you enjoyed getting introduced to ITIL. The job market now values T-shaped professionals, who have a specialism in one area (like Cyber Security) but who also have a broader understanding of products and services and the organization they work within. In my experience, security is too often an after-thought, so being able to engage with product and service teams early on is an important capability. (Similar thing happened with DevOps which led to the rise of DevSecOps, which might also be worth a bit of research).

If you're new to the IT field the best advice I can give you is to check out the job listings for the types of role you want and see what certifications recruiters are listing. I'd agree with what @balance has suggested, but even in the security field there's a whole range of training so see what will get you the best return on your investment. Good luck, and feel free to message me if you've got any other questions, Claire

ITIL Foundation is the most popular ITIL certification for IT service management professionals. ITIL Foundation certification is the entry-level ITIL qualification and is required before you sit any of the higher ITIL certification examinations.

Glad I took ITILv3. Just looking at the ITILv4 syllabus, ITILv4 seems much less organized, much less coherent.
