Hey everyone!

I hope you’re all doing well. I am currently exploring a career change into cybersecurity and could really use some advice from those of you who have been in the field.

What would you say are the most important skills or certifications to focus on as a newcomer? I have gone through these articles https://community.infosecinstitute.com/discussion/138960/cyber-security-certification-training-suggestions-for-beginners and what is cybersecurity, however they are good but I wanted to learn more from community members.

Are there any particular resources or courses you’d recommend for someone just starting out? Also, if you have any tips on networking or finding job opportunities in this field, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to hearing your insights.

Best Regards

    Wish you a good luck.
It will probably sounds weird but you may google for forums related to illegal network activity to find the ideas that inspire you. Not for illegal action but what exactly way in cybersecurity to choose.

Hi all, I'm also brand new to cybersecurity.  I'm currently taking an eight week online course called "Harvard VPAL Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age 2024-09-25".  I'm only a couple weeks in but I'm already learning a lot. I highly recommend it.  I'm also looking to learn what skills and certifications are important to learn. I'll check out your link and try what Olly said.  Thanks all! The world needs us.
