Oh man, when did I take the last Linux+ beta? Was it February 2022? Time again...

OK, I just signed up to take this beta on New Years Eve. A nice way to send out 2024.

The CompTIA Exam Objectives Under Development page has DRAFT Linux+ XK0-006 Exam Objectives (1.2) (PDF).

If anyone knows of a more recent exam objectives doc for XK0-006 please post the link here.

I sat for the CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-006) beta exam yesterday as my (6th?) final cert exam of 2024. It was 115 exam items in 165 minutes, including four Practice-Based Questions (PBQ). I took a little over two hours to complete the exam. It was a fun exam with a lot of trouble-shooting scenarios that I like, so I was in no hurry to finish it.

I really don't have too much to report that I didn't say about the previous XK0-005 beta exam I took in 2022. I would add that there is a lot of specialty commands for performing very specific work on Linux machines that only an admin would tackle. Two of my PBQs were so specific to a type of troubleshooting that I couldn't begin to answer because I was not familiar with any of the tools presented.

The XK0-006 objectives includes an AI subdomain which surprised me because CompTIA has publicized that it is producing a separate family of AI certs  to minimize AI content in their mainstream exams. Maybe that marketing decision has changed a bit, or these beta items are for those exams. (These items seemed to be at the level of "AI essentials" topics.)

Finally, this was a beta exam. There is really no way of knowing how close this exam will be to the actual production release of XK0-006 sometime in mid-2025. Did I pass? Only time will tell... ;)

    I did pass XK0-005 back in 2022.

I just received an email from Pearson VUE directing me to log into the their Website and view my XK0-006 Linux+ score report.

    And I did PASS
XK0-006. A bit of a surprise because I thought that I did badly on the PBQs. However, there's no telling how a beta will be scored, or if all of the exam items will be considered in the final exam score.

I'm good to teach Linux+ until
    Feb 26, 2030!  :D
