Exactly what are they, if any? I hear rumors all the time, but I would like some hard facts so I can push my employer into more IE training :)

Really depends on the company. For a Cisco partner, having a certain number of CCIEs on staff is required for certain partner levels. For a non-partner consulting type company, it adds some prestige. For any company, it adds a very knowledgeable worker. For some, it might just be bragging rights for management when talking to another CIO/CEO/etc. There are many other benefits, but those are some of the more obvious ones.

From the CCIE Program Features page it looks like a non-business partner who hires a CCIE would get:
Service requests made to Cisco Technical Support (TS) by CCIEs in good standing, on behalf of an organization with a valid support contract, will be routed directly to the more experienced core TS support engineers.

For a non-business partner with frequent service requests that sounds like a good quote to remember for people who need to convince their employer to invest in CCIE training/exam.
