I think i speak for all of us Dynamips n00bs (who will be going for new BSCI) when i say that i (we) need your help in creating an exercise lab for new BSCI exam in Dynamips.
CiscoPress recommends that you purchase 10 2811 routers with the right mods, not including few switches. Total cost? About 12-18 thousand dollars. Fun isn't it?

I got a shock as well when I looked at the lab requirements but when you start doing the stuff in the self study guide they normally only use 4 to 5 routers so I am still plugging away with my 2500's and so far so good. :D

Has any one tried this lab? I don't know why, but dynamips crashes on me after i load like 5 routers from the lab.. I do it on a 4gig RAM machine, with 160RAM for each 7200 and there's more than enough RAM i don't see why it would crash.. Any ideas?

    OK
maybe somebody will have the same problem where dynamips crashes after you load 5th or 6th router, i think it's because of Windows 2gb ram per process limit, so running multiple servers solves that problem, it did for me at least.. Though 10 routers maxed my CPU to 100% icon_twisted.gif

Yep, that's it. The CCIE lab net files usually need 2 servers (or multiple machines).

Crashed on #7 with 1 server on core 2 laptop with 2 gig -- 7200 12.4 advanced IP services IOS -- with ghost IOS enabled.

You can also try different routers with smaller ram amounts to squeeze more routers into one server instance.

I can run 14 3640 routers in 2 server instances.... bogs down when backbone routers are running and all routing protocols configured. I'll usually suspend the routers I'm not working on and only run everything at once when I want to do end-to-end tests.
