A bit of advice wanted.
Hi Guys,
I have been looking into doing a few certs and having now realised that the Linux+ cert exists I am thinking about taking it at some point as I have some linux experience.
I have never really got to grips with using linux as a desktop os but I have setup and administered a few debian based routers and servers in the past.
I get the impression that although linux+ is vendor neutral its questions lean towards debian and redhat, am I correct?
If so I assume that playing with redhat would be of benefit?

You are correct, at least that is how it was when I took the exam back in 2003. Here is a link where you can get the objectives on what is covered on the exam.

It definately leans towards RH rather than Debian. I passed the linux+ exam a few weeks back with minimal Linux experience but had to put in a lot of studying.~Thiassi -

The best thing to do is install Linux on a system. Use it as your primary OS for the time being. Get really comfortable with the command line. Become comfortable with package management and some security. I would recommend installing CentOS. Its basically Red Hat Enterprise and should give you some good experience.Remington Forbes
