Mail 2 web?

http://www.mail2web.com/

Someone told me about this the other day when I was troubleshooting an issue with a user who could not receive emails using Outlook express. We were able to use the above website to confirm that there was nothing wrong with the configurations...I've just never heard of it before. Is it acceptable to use or should I be weary of it?

Could be legit but i wouldnt risk it.

Theres plenty of other ways to test configuration without using this.

They don't even redirect you to their SSL site: https://www.mail2web.com/ I would definitely not enter my information into that site.

Didn't realize that. Guess I'll take it off my list.

I would guide the user through a telnet session.

    Diagnoses:

    - DNS issues
    - login/password problems
    - notifies if daemon is waiting for unfinished session to terminate (common problem with dial-up users)
    - user competence/tolerance level

Also this approach doesn't disclose any sensitive information. So you can support users not knowing their credentials.

Unfortunately I don't know how to troubleshoot using Telnet.
