How do I get my comp to load to windows without logon screen

Whenever my XP loads and gets to the welcome screen it asks me to click on my logon name before it boots into windows even though I don't have a password for that account.

How can I make XP boot without asking my to click on the logon username?

Windows XP should automatically load your desktop if you...

1. have only one user account, and
2. have no password on that account.

Otherwise, follow this procedure:

1. Open User Accounts from the Control Panel.
2. Click on "Change the way users log on or off".
3. Uncheck "Use the Welcome screen".

That should be it. After that, you should just get a logon prompt instead if you have more than one account, and you should be able to set your account to the default that always shows up when you turn your computer on.

I only have one account with no password but it stills comes up to a log on screen

Crap... if you're using XP Pro I think you always have to deal with at least a login prompt where you have to enter your user name. I'm not sure... Sorry.

If its a single stand alone just ensure:

- The account you use has no password
- No other account is present
- Guest Account is turned off

If you are fairly computer literate you can resolve this with the following...

Start>Run>regedit

Click on the following...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SOFTWARE
Microsoft
WindowsNT
CurrentVersion
Winlogon

Look for a key on the right that says AutoLogon.... It prolly has its value set to 0. Change it to 1.

Then Look for a key called ForceAutoLogon, Change that to 1.

Now look for a key called DefaultUserName and let me know what that shows. Also look for DefaultDomainName and let me know what that shows. It should be your computer name.

Add a key called DefualtPassword and then leave the value blank.

Restart and your computer. It should now go straight into windows.
