I took the A+ 2006 today & passed --- A little advice.

I did the Essentials & IT Tech. They were much easier than I expected w/ hardly any questions on processors, IRQ's & the like.

I only used the Sybex book:

Note I have no professional experience yet but I've built a few gaming PC's.

Basically, as long as you read the book (focus quite a bit on the customer service aspect of it) you'll pass the 1st time.

Seems to me that the 2003 exams are significantly more difficult.

Traditional the A+ exams are not difficult nor were they meant to be....it's geared toward technicians with about 500 hours of experience.

Congratulations on passing your exam! However, take care not to let a passing score be the indicator of how you'll perform in the workplace there is a bit more to gaining respect from your employer, clients and even co-workers then a certificate and a couple 'game' boxes.

So what is your plan now? Are you working?

I'm in college now. Still have a few years left.

My plan is to do Network+ next & set myself up to get the MCP cert.

So college students can't work? Surely you can pickup some sort of job to gain experience, no?

NET+ is generally the cert many seek after the A+, but I really recommend you consider gaining some experience before racking up certifications.
