2500 vs 2600 series routers question -
mobri09
Many peope within this forum and posts are stating you can get away with having 2500 series routers for the CCNA EXAM. Which i do agree to a point. What do you do when it comes time to do a little trunking? Trunking requires fast ethernet therefore i would assume you need a 2600 series router with a 10/100 fast ethernet wic card correct? I am a newbie so i might be off -

One of your routers for a CCNA should have trunking capabilities -- the 2610 can trunk on the 10Mb interface with the proper IOS version.

You can enable dot1q trunking on the 2600/3600 with 10mb/s interfaces and the correct IOS version, however the native vlan can only be configured for vlan 1. If you want to use ISL for trunking you're going to need 100mb/s (although the 2950 does not support ISL you should still have an understanding of it and if you want to move beyond CCNA you'll need it)
