The exams are $158 for the A+ and $225 for the Network+ in USD. I don't know if those translate exactly or if you will get gouged à la PS3 ;) You can go to www.vue.com and create an account to see the pricing/testing locations (I assume they have testing centers over there). For my Security+/MCPs, I've been spending about a month of preparation on each test. I work full-time and am taking a college course in addition to that, but I also have a decent amount of background experience. Just take your time and do it right - you'll know when you're ready.

thanks dynamik, and yes we do get badly stung for exams over here, my A+ was £129 about $230 and the N+ is £180 about $340, i too have a decent amount of background and a month or so does seem too bad.

    thanks a lot icon_thumright.gif

Whoops. Didn't read your question totally right. The MCP exams I've taken have been $125 USD, and it looks like they are that price across the board. So it'll be a little cheaper than your A+ exams.

Not sure if this reply will be useful to you, coming about 6 weeks after the question, but I'll post it just in case the info helps anybody else considering studying in the UK.

Cost per MS exam in the UK is around £103 including VAT. If you buy the MS books to study you'll find that some of them include 15% discount vouchers, those exams end up at around £88 including tax.

So MCSA (4 exams) = around £400, MCSE (7 exams) = £700. If you want to add Security+ to your cert list, possibly to obtain the MCSE:Security specialisation, then the S+ exam costs £180 ex vat I believe.

Once you buy some study books you are looking at £500 minimum for MCSA and £1000 minimum to get an MCSE:Security in the UK.

One tip; buy your books from the US. Even with international shipping they work out much cheaper and the vouchers, if present, can still be used. At least I didn't have a problem using them.

We should change the country code for the United Kingdom to X2. Everything here costs twice as much as it does anywhere else.

Never pay the full CompTIA exam price. Always get a discount voucher, they're always available too. PrepLogic & GraceTechSolutions do exam vouchers. PrepLogic is cheaper for A+ while GraceTechSolutions are cheaper for Network+, Security+, Server+ and they are one of the few who also do Linux+ vouchers.

    A+ is $139 / £70
    Network+, Server+, Linux+ is $205 / £103
    Security+ is $225 / £113

wanboy67: Thanks very much for the tip about the vouchers, I haven't taken S+ yet so that will come in handy.

nel: I've already paid for all my MS exams at this point but thanks for the tip.

PS. The study guides they offer with the exam vouchers aren't braindumps are they? I'd rather pay full price for the exam than risk losing my certs.

Not as far as I'm aware. Their website says they are corporate members of CompTIA as well as an authorised Certiport center, so I would doubt there is anything suspect about their study guide, similar to CramSession study guides I presume. (Note: It says study guides not exam questions aka braindump).
