I have read the Sybex book and took multiple practice exams. I have also viewed the nuggets. Does anyone recommend anything else that help me pass this test? I failed the first time by one or two. Second time by like five or six. I have to take it a third time need it for the job. icon_mad.gif

I actually found the Passport book to have very good practice questions... More specifically on the CD.... I think of all the practice tests I had taken for the Security+ the ones on that CD were the closest style to CompTIA questions. I also found the Sybex questions on the CD to be pretty good.

Does anyone know if the Exam Cram book is good for this Cert? I used the Exam Cram book and Trancender for A+ and Network + and I had very good results. I loved the material and formatting, but only in the past week have i thought about security+.

Oh, one more thing. I had the older version of Trancender, before they were bought out, and i have noticed the format has changed a little. Does anyone still recommend them as a good test bank source or if they had good results from them?

    Thank you.

Transcender is close to the real exam, you can get the feel on how the exam is layed out

Sybex seems to be the odds on favorite for this cert. I liked it.
Don't know about ExamCram textbook, but I found their practice test book useful. It was quite extensive and worded some of the questions in a way that made you think.
The exam has some oddly worded questions.

    Hi there,

I used the MS Press for the Security+, and I have to say this has been the best IT certification study book that I have used to date. A close second is the Mike Meyers "Passport" book which I used to study for the Network+ back in December 2003.

His 'Passport' books are more or less an exam cram style of book. I haven't seen any of his titles in the bookstores lately. Does anyone know if he is still around? He did a good job of making the reading light and interesting without the expense of being dorky like the author for the MCDST book which I just finished.

Has anybody read the Syngress book for this exam? I picked up the Syngress months ago when I saw it for ~$7 on Syngress' website. A deal I couldn't refuse.

It looks like you already purchased the MS Press, which I haven't seen. I do know the Sybex and Syngress are the most popular in the past, but I'm not sure when the MS Press book was published. MS Press books are usually very good and it looks like rkholmes liked it quite well. So while you won't go wrong using another book in addition to what you already have, I don't think you need to.

Sounds like the toss of a coin will have to decide. I am sure either one will be fine. :)
