Well, two weeks of sweating and studying have paid off. This is my second certification; I obtained my A+ waaaaay back in 1998.

Judging from the printout the biggest issues I had were in Domain Five, which I guess figures since it's near the end of the books and study materials. Frankly I became a zombie every time I got to that section.

    Thanks!

I already have BS degree in IT, plus I just finished my AAS in Information Security in May. So now I have completed my Sec+, next comes Network+, then I'll start the ISC(2) track within the year... yeesh!

Anyways, I'm looking to join the US government as an information security specialist by the end of the year... hopefully my new credentials will get me where I want to be.

Q: Does the SSCP hold water over the Security+ or should I just go for the CISSP? The trick with the latter is my experience is in applications, web, logistics, management and Linux with a bit of Microsoft thrown in. As of right now I'm not in an official InfoSec position, and it's my understanding that you have to have someone refer you to take the CISSP.

Here is a good link from cram session that compares both certs. according to ISC2 SSCP is intermediate while CompTIA says security+ is more an beginner/introductory cert.

Thanks everyone. There were a few surprises on this test because all my materials are 2002 edition, but nothing too bad.

I just got back from celebrating with the family at Red Lobster. CHEERS!
