passing 70-621 gives you credential same as 70-620?

I have just passed 70-271 and 272 and theoretically MCDST without a certificate on hand.
Now I'm planning to upgrade to MCITP by doing the 70-621.
I also want to within a year or so get MCSA 2003 certified. So here comes the my problem?

70-621 gives you credential similar to passing 70-620 and 70-622. 70-620 counts as a core exam for an MCSA 2003. Would passing the 70-621 also count credential toward MCSA2003? Or would I still have to do 70-620?

Thanx.

To my knowledge, if you needed the 70-620 then you have to do the 70-620 (I'm starting the MCITP:EA 2k8, and even though I passed the 70-621, I still have to do the 70-620).

Getting the MCTS & MCITP creds by doing the 70-621 only gets you the requirements for the MCITP: EST and not for anything else. So if you wanted to use the 70-620 for the MCSA 2k3, then it's another exam for you unfortunately icon_sad.gif

not positve whether you get the 2 credentials with the upgrade, but the 620 is basically half of the 621. I took both the 620 and 621. A majority of the objectives from the 620 are on the 621. More than half. I destroyed the 620 exam...looked over the objectives for the 621 and noticed the overlap. I went and sat the 621 straight up and passed it. The first 3/5 of the exam was 620 material...thats 60% of the test...do the math. If you can destroy the 620 exam, the 621 should be no problem...It is at least easier than taking the 622 and giving the straight up enterprise exam a shot...not many matching objectives.

Just a little tip for ya.

I found this in the MS website

    Credit toward certification

This exam is only relevant to MCDST customers. When you pass Exam 70-621 UPG: Upgrading Your MCDST Certification to MCITP Enterprise Support, you complete the requirements for the following certifications:
    • Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician
    • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Windows Vista, Configuration

But so it applies for the MCDST holder which was not your case.

I thought passing both 70-271 and 272 counted as an MCSA 2003 elective? But you need both of them - just 271 or just 272 won't do.

    Here is a link -

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsa/windows2003/default.mspx

Go to the bottom of the page under where it says "As an alternative to the electives that are listed in the Electives Table, these certifications or certification combinations may substitute for an MCSA elective"

It says the MCDST as well as the A+/Network+ combination and Security+ count as elective
