Hey everyone

What are your opinions on MCSE 2003 CBT training DVDs? Are they worth it and do they train well?

If you are referring to CBT Nuggets, they are highly recognized in the industry and considered one of the most popular methods for preparing for exams.

My employer purchased three 2003 MCSE training packages (i.e.: books & DVDs): CBT Nuggets, Test Out & Measure Up. They did this as they have an annual training budget and there are a number of us currently studying for our MCSE. We’re all at various stages (i.e.: some just starting and studying for our 1st mcp while others only have 1 or 2 exams left to take) so a choice of training material is great.

Personally I found the Test out training material the most helpful as it breaks down each course/exam into categories. Also after each section you then get to practice the labs/simulations and are also given a few practice questions. Also I found the trainer only goes through what you're expected to know for the each exam. Once you have complete that particular course there is 150+ exams broken down into section so you get an idea of you weak areas too.

I did not really rate the Measure Up material, however some of my colleagues preferred these to the others. The CBT videos are very good, the only down side to the CBT material is I they covered the course in great depth compared to the other two packages. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but my main concern is to get through my exams and achieve my mcse ASAP. Once I have complete my last few exams I will go through all the CBT videos when I have more time to do so.

If you want to get through your exams ASAP and do not have a lot of spare time I recommend Test Out. If you have more time then I’d recommend the CBT material as you cover all areas of each exam thoroughly.
next up SharePoint... what's that all about!

The CBT Nuggets license in non-transferable. If you purchase these on e-Bay they will not be a legal copy and probably won't work, as you have to activate them with your user id and password registered on CBT Nuggets. The CD will be locked and unusable until you do so. Unless it is a very old copy.

I struggle to find the humor in Mark's comment.

I unknowingly purchased the MCSE CBT Nuggets videos and the CCNA videos off of e-bay and they work flawlessly, no username or password required. Of course I got lucky because the videos were not advertised as CBT Nuggets, I thought I was just purchasing some generic MCSE videos. It was a pleasant surprise because the videos are excellent and informative and as you can probably guess, CHEAP! In my opinion the CBT Nugget videos are way over priced. When I purchase videos in the future I'll probably go with trainsignal.

That's what I wanted to say, but didn't want to upset the heard. And yes, I agree, Trainsignal is the best out there.

What did you want to say? That you also bought pirated CBT Nugget videos cheap on e-Bay (one more reason why they are so expensive for the rest of us, thank you) or that you think they are over priced?
