anyone know what version of 12.4 IOS supports BGP?

    Typically the IP or enhanced IP feature sets and above. Using the new naming scheme it would be enterprise services or advanced IP services, it can depend on the hardware. What hardware platform are you using?

    i have two 1721 switches running 12.4(3) IOS... not sure about the more specific details at the moment cuz im at work and can't check

    post the sh ver from both 1721 routers.

    BGP feature(s) within 12.4 are platform dependant. If you are running a 1721 router, bgp will be on IP Plus or greater feature set, that of which requires 64D/16F

    Since 1700's are classified as SOHO router(s), cisco bundled the ADSL feature set with ip plus.

    enterprise base does not include bgp, but adv ip and adv ent services does.

    service provider services (sp) or formally "telco" includes bgp as well as many other required features for isp's but lacks many features covered in ccnp.
