xm routers vs regular routers

what is the benefit to the Xm series of routers:
like a 2610xm compared to a 2610?
like a 2610xm compared to a 2610?
encrypt the encryption, never mind my brain hurts.

More flash and RAM, allows you to run newer IOS images with more features. Also they have a higher forwarding rate, and the 2610xm has a single FastEthernet interface VS the 2610 which has an Ethernet interface.The only easy day was yesterday! -

can the 2610 hold as much ram? Even if they don't come with as much?encrypt the encryption, never mind my brain hurts.

Well first off XM series support more ram (laughs, dosent take a rocket surgeon for that one)
XM has a better processor as well as support for 32mb flash out of the box. All XM series have Fastethernet ports as well as support for internal cryptographic processor board. (aim socket)
XM's have no problem running 12.4, std 2600 series can run 12.4 but it runs like crap (laughs) and is not supported by cisco at all so yeah they will laugh at you if you ask why your router keeps crashing...

Most 2600XM's do support 256D/48F
But some earlier 2600XM's that have bootrooms that do not support 256MB ram. Routers that have 12.2(8r) or later bootrom will support the full 256MB. The bootroms can easily be upgraded, thats no problem
but bootroms are quite pricey.
Also theirs a few major differences in the 2600 standard and XM series 2600 routers such as the AIM speed and processor speed (33% faster according to Cisco), newer wic/nm support and a few minor differences you can find on the cisco site. There is no place like 127.0.0.1
