Way too much Cisco

Well a buddy of mine came over the other day and it must have been 1:00 in the afternoon and I was sawing logs cuz I stayed up till 6:00am on my lab. He tries to aka "shake n wake" me and I mumbled on about the default route...

He then starts yelling at me saying "GET UP!" Then I yelled back "NOOO, you gotta redistribute that damn default route!!"

I finally woke up and when he told me what I said I laughed...

I've spent countless hours on my ccie lab lately and you know its getting to you when all you can think about before you go to bed is how you can enhance the network!!!

Any one else had this problem before? icon_lol.gif

Strangely i have *slowly raising hand*
My wife says i always sleep talk, ramberling on about something or another.

No nightmares of people cutting network cables with scissors like some sick twisted horror move yet though.

Just the other day i was trying to give directions and said "You have to take the router down to 96 and swing a left"

I like to do my studying at night and I always wake up thinking about what I studied or labed up the night before. I think it helps you remeber it better when you study right before bed as long as you're not too tired. Its like your mind keeps going over it all night while you sleep!

That's when I knew I was ready to take the 801, when I was dreaming about programming routers.

    That's also when I knew I had a problem....but it could be worse! :)

(stands up and smiles meekly at the group) "Hi, my name's Mike, and I haven't switched a users vlan membership for kicks in two weeks. I did, however, SPAN my managers access port over to my port and Ethereal'd his facebook password. I'm so weak."

I also dream about the cli, frequently.

In fact, it's a great barometer of my readiness in a topic. For example, last week I dreamt I was working on an MST solution, and in my dream it made sense.

Two nights ago I woke up ~ 4am after dreaming about CoS, and I smiled to myself, cause what I dreamt made no sense at all. Now I know what to study harder on.

    or

"I slept with my router and my switch has left me"

    or

"I-P way to much should i see a doctor?" - pun intended.

i could go on and on.....

If we could just hook our significant others to our network we'd have it made!!!

access lists, qos, port security, oh yeah the best one "significant_other(config-if)#shutdown"

There have been a lot of sleepstudies that prove that reading and or studying right beofre you go to sleep helps you to remember and retain. Something about how your brain behaves while you are asleep. I have never sleep talked about cisco, but I have dreamed about it. I have, as networker said, been studying at night, and the first thing that was in my mind when I opened my eyes was frame-relay or whatever it was I was doing. When you study as hard as we do and think about it as much as we do, it's no surprise that we subconsciously think about it.

    Cisco Genesis

1:1 In the beginning, Cisco created the Routers and the Switches
    1:2 And the network was without hierarchical structure; and convergence;
and congestion was the face of the route. And the spirit of Cisco was moved
upon the TCO of every enterprise.
1:3 And Cisco said "Let their be PoE" and their was 48v
1:4 And Cisco saw the stock market rise and it was good; and divided the Poe
    from the standard
1:5 And Cisco called the PoE; Power to your stupid executives who cannot find
a power plug in their office, and called the standard "EOS/EOL"

For Cisco so loved the world that they gave us EIGRP, that whoever uses this routing protocol shall not lose packets, but will reach the internet.

Maybe you should submit it to IEEE instead, we wouldn't want Cisco to lock us down to only their devices in this instance...I prefer non-proprietary in this case... icon_lol.gif
