I wrote this above topic awhile back, and I thought I'd update my situation. In July 2007 I made Sr Helpdesk Specialist. In September 2007, I was offered, and accepted, a position as a Network Admin with my company. I guess all the effort finally paid off, and only two years in the field.
I'm not finished yet. Now I'm shooting for an engineering position, but not yet though. I know I still have a LOT to learn, a few more certs, a degree in Comp Sci, more experience, more projects, yada yada yada. I just thought I'd share an example of how all this studying and applying your knowledge can pay off.
In no small way, I have all of you to thank. You all have served as an inspiration, and source of knowledge for me. You all played a role in my professional growth as well. I've been off the board for several months due to some extremely important family issues with which I had to deal. But I'm back and ready to offer any help, or contribute any amount of knowledge (however small) that I have to the community here. Thanks again.
