reading books vs taking practice exams

I'm pretty sure both are just as important but was wondering which one did you spend more time before taking and passing the exam?

    If you spend a lot of time studying, the practice tests go quick :D

    With my normal routine of 1-2 books, CBT Nuggets, and Transcender. I probably spend 10-20% with practice tests (and most of that time is spent going back to the books to brush-up on information, so I don't know if that even counts).
