CCNA question

I was browsing cisco's certification online support section, when I came across the following link.

How much time is required to complete the CCNA curriculum

This states that someone passing one of the two required exams for the CCNA, you have a window of 3 years of taking the second exam and earn the cert. Does this mean that if you passed the old Intro you could STILL take the old ICND exam and earn the cert. The above link seems to suggest this. Advice please guys..Thanks!

My understanding is that if you have the old Intro, you can take the new ICND 2 as the second exam. You could only take the old exams after they were retired if you were an Academy student. I don't know if the deadline was/is for those students.

dynamik, I think the same, but when I read that link, bit of doubt has crept into my mind. Logically, according to the link, perhaps you can still take the old ICND. I know that Academy students can....

The link you provided appears to simply state that they have not changed the time frame for when you have to take the second exam. I think this link will answer your question.

Thank you for that link dynamik, one more question.

Since Academy students can still take the old ICND exam, what if I joined the Academy now, would that automatically give me access to the old ICND exam??

I can't answer that. Perhaps if you find a program that still offers the old curriculum...

I guess my question is, why would you want to? You have one more exam either way. Why not focus on the one with the most current information?

dynamik, thats coz I missed out on the old ICND by the skin of my teeth (847), I do not want to study for any new material. I would also need to invest in new books. Just wanted to the cost difference in joining an Academy and take the old ICND again or get myself together and start on the ICND2.

unless you are an academy student who is authorized to take the older exams I believe you must take the new ones..
