SSCP / CISSP Question?

Hi Guys;

I'm little late for this but i got a question, after i finished my Security+ i wanted to take this test (SSCP or CISSP), i bought all the books and later i noticed that i was needing experience to take those tests and i did quit, now after read a post in CompTIA Security+ session, i checked the ISC web side and find out that i can do the test and got the Associate of (ISC)2 and then after a i got the experience i will be SSCP or CISSP.

My question is, this only apply for SSCP or both?, i mean, can i do either exam or only SSCP?.

Yup, you can take either test and become an Associate of (ISC)2. The only difference between taking one exam or another is that, once you acheive all the requirements for the cert you're shooting for, you'll gain that particular cert, and not the other. For example, if you take the CISSP exam, you have to wait until you have all the professional and academic experience, as well as a sponsor in order to become CISSP certified. They won't give you SSCP "in the meantime", so to speak. The same is true if you take the SSCP test and become an Associate, they won't give you CISSP status even if you meet all the experience requirements without taking that test as well.

It also appears that an Associate of (ISC)2 is not required to pay the annual (ISC)2 membership fee or acquire CPEs. I'm still waiting on word back from the (ISC)2 about this.

I have received an email from the Registrar of (ISC)2 Services stating that all (ISC)2 Associates pay an Annual Maintenance Fee (AMF) of $35US.
