Does mostly everyone these days use the Subnet Zero address when subnetting ip addresses?

What he means is, please post a link when you're quoting from another website. That way, the rest of us can go take a look, see the information in context, and maybe even learn a thing or two from the site. It's not required, but it's considered to be good forum-etiquette to accurately list your sources, preferably with a link. (That includes books, whitepapers, and other sources you're quoting from.)

Let me see here. . . I think the article you're quoting from is this one, from Cisco's site, which seems pretty good. The short answer to your question: yes, a lot people use subnet zero when calculating subnets, (but the CCNA exam will assume that you're not). In fact, the ip subnet-zero command is enabled by default on modern implementations of the Cisco IOS. This article, by David Davis, gives a better explanation of why (or why not) you'd use the zero subnet.
